Magic of 8..yes, today is 8th August 2008 or translated as 08.08.08…The last time 08.08.08 appeared was about 100 years ago. The date holds auspicious connotations such as prosperity, fortune & good tidings. To chinese, it is “fatt fatt fatt”, & is associated with prosperity & they are especially fond of the number 8. To them, the 8 is synonymous with wealth because the character sounds like wealth.
To D.Pian & me…all our car registration number must have 8. We started with our very 1st car in 1993; a Proton Saga bearing number of 1088, the 2nd car was Honda Civic in 1996 with registration number of 6338. In 2002, my Honda CRV 386, bought my Toyota Altis in 2006 with 386 also. D.Pian had his Toyota Prado with 3886 and when we transferred back to KK, since my current employer provides me with a car, I sold off my Honda CRV & Toyota Altis and also D.Pian sold off his Toyota Prado. As a replacement he got us with a Toyota Cygnus bearing number 88. Currently, we are maintaing only 2 cars: Toyata Cygnus **88* and also D.Pian’s favourite toy: BMW 5series AMG ***388*. I wouldn’t know why 8 has significant influence in our car registration number.
Never the less, all my kids were born on the 8th. Izzat, my eldest was on 8th Sept 1994, Iman, my second child on 8th May 1998 and Izzah, my youngest girl on 8th May 2004. Maybe our favourite number that is 386 after all signifies our family story. From the number of 386, tale of our family being encapsulated: D.Pian & me got married on 3.6.93 and as a result, we have 3 kids that were all born on the 8th….now, don’t these a very beautiful coincidences…
